My guess is this is Madrid's attempt at emulating Barcelona's Boqueria, and truth be told I liked it better. I found it cleaner, easier to navigate and a larger selection of prepared food, which is great for tourist without access to a kitchen. Yes it's probably a glorified food court, but a damn fine one. Whether for a snack, lunch or between meals meal I stopped here several times and ate at many of the food stalls and found little to be disappointed with. I would avoid the croquette lady, the croquettes were lackluster. My favorites were the seafood on tostas , the macaroons (pistachio ones were best) and the various wine sellers. The coffee in the back of the market was also quite good. That and a few macaroons made an awesome breakfast. The weekends and right after work are the most crowded times, lunch and late afternoon are less hectic. While there were a few overpriced items, I frequently went there spent between 8-12 euros and ate well. Excellent choice if your near Opera stop or staying near La Latina district.

Buena Pasteleria

Empanadillas riquísimas. Bandas de yema tostada mitiquisimas.
